Welcome to the Feathered Chronicles: Life with My Serama Flock

On May 7, 2024, my world became a little brighter—and a lot fluffier—when four tiny Serama chicks broke free from their shells. These four, now the stars of this blog, are not just chickens; they’re little personalities with wings, quirks, and stories waiting to be told.

First to arrive was Tank, my only Serama rooster, and from the moment he hatched, his fearless streak was clear. Next came Tink, who, even in those first hours, showed a mix of sweetness and sass. Then Itsy followed—tiny but determined. And finally, Bitsy made her appearance, though she needed a bit of extra help hatching from her egg.

After each chick emerged, I found myself constantly checking the incubator, watching them transform from goopy wet hatchlings to fluffy little butts. The anticipation was almost unbearable—I wanted to hold them so badly! But I had to wait for them to dry and gather strength before we could have our first snuggles.

By the end of their first day, all four were fluffy, dry, and ready for some love. That evening, I tucked them into a cozy kangaroo pet pouch—a harness I wear on my chest, perfect for small animals. With a heating pad on the outside to keep them warm, we settled in to watch TV together. This became our nightly ritual: hours spent snuggling, with the occasional peek from the pouch for a bit of mash food. These quiet, cuddly moments were just the beginning of the bond we built.

Together, these four Seramas are the heart and soul of my little flock. Alongside them live other chickens—and a few other roosters—who occasionally share their coop and adventures, adding extra excitement to our days.

Join me as I share the ups, downs, and in-betweens of their feathery lives. There’s never a dull moment with this lively group, and through this blog, I hope you’ll come to love them as much as I do.
